Virtual Disks

Description:
Caution: Please be aware of the size of the disks. The program doesn't warn of this, and data can be lost when copying to a smaller disk.

Create Virtual Disk

To create a virtual disk, select from main menu: Virtual Disks -> Create Virtual Disk.
The Virtual DISK Creator (ZIP, MO, CD-ROM) dialog will open, allowing you to save a ZIP-disk, MO-disk or CD-ROM to hard-disk as a "Virtual Disk" image-file.
By using Create Virtual Disk and Copy Virtual Disk, data can be copied from ZIP to MO, or disks can be backed up using the "Virtual Disks".
Additional options:
1. Sector by sector reading - When ON, data will be read from the external drive data one sector at a time. Unfortunately, this process is very slow and use is only advised to use in situations where you wish to attempt recovering lost data from a damaged ZIP-disk or MO-disk.

2. Ignore messages about problems with reading in sectors - when ON, reading data from the external drive will be faster, but if an error is discovered during read this will not be reported, and the read data will be unreliable.

How to create a "Virtual Disk" file-image:
1. Choose Source Drive:.

2. Choose Destination Path: , define hard disk destination folder, file name and fle extension. You may choose to save the virtual disk as a NRG - Nero Format (*.nrg) file, or as a ISO9660 -Format (*.iso) file (using Save as type:).

3. Click on [Create] button to start creation of Virtual Disk. ExSC will start reading data from the external drive and will record this data to disk.

4.
After Virtual Disk creation is completed, ExSC will inform with an appropriate message.

!!! Trick: make a copy of ZIP or MO disk, and then burn the virtual disk onto a CD using 3rd party CD burn software ...
