ExSC is compliant with NT family systems and does not require ASPI drivers. It uses SPTI commands
built-in in Windows XP or higher.
ExSC has its own driver for communication with SCSI devices. Therefore installing any ASPI
drivers on a XP/2000/NT system is redundant.
ASPI drivers are required by the program for reading non-standard formats like Akai and Emu
CDs. These drivers manage the transmission buffers and are safe for Windows system. So please
don't be afraid to install them. They won't cause problems in your system.
If program don't reports any problems with ASPI drivers, and the menu "Akai S1000/S3000" is
fully accessible, you don't need to read this chapter.
When program reports some problems and menu "Akai S1000/S3000" is deactivated (disabled)
meaning:
- ASPI drivers are not installed in your system,
- drivers are installed in non-compatible version, old or unknown by program,
- drivers are installed incorrectly or something is missed.
ASPI drivers for
95/98/Me systems have two important files:
- WNASPI32.DLL (located in Windows\System directory)
- APIX.VXD (located in Windows\System\IoSubSys directory)
For newest drivers i.e.
